Dr. Afolabi Ogunleye, known to his patients as “Dr. Fola” or “Dr. O,” is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Papillion, Nebraska. With more than three decades of clinical dental experience and approximately two decades in oral and maxillofacial surgery, he provides specialized care focused on restoring oral health, function, comfort, and confidence.
A Patient-Centered Approach to Oral Surgery
Dr. Ogunleye treats his patients and team like extended family. He begins each consultation by listening carefully to the patient’s concerns, understanding what brought them to the office, and identifying their personal treatment goals.
Following a thorough examination, Dr. Ogunleye explains the available options and works with the patient to create an individualized treatment plan. A patient’s first oral surgery consultation is an opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns, and understand the steps involved in reaching their dental health goals.
Education and Advanced Surgical Training
Dr. Ogunleye earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2001.
After dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency through New York Medical College and the former St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers Brooklyn/Queens division. This hospital-based program provided additional experience in comprehensive dental care and the treatment of patients with complex health needs.
Dr. Ogunleye then completed four years of specialty training through the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Harlem Hospital Center Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program. His comprehensive surgical education included training in anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma, reconstructive procedures, and dental implant surgery.
Board Certification and Professional Fellowship
Dr. Ogunleye is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Board certification reflects the successful completion of advanced specialty education and a comprehensive examination process covering the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
He is also a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Clinical Faculty Experience
After completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2006, Dr. Ogunleye accepted a faculty position at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. As a former clinical faculty member in oral and maxillofacial surgery, he contributed to the education and clinical development of dental students.
